Rodent Control in Cedar Hills and West Slope

Cedar Hills is a census-designated place in Washington County, just south of the Sunset Highway. Construction started there in 1946 with plans for about 2,000 homes, and the Cedar Hills Shopping Center opened in 1955. West Slope is one of Beaverton's named neighborhoods.

Houses from the 1940s and 1950s have had a long time to settle, and where lots slope, the downhill side is usually where the crawl space vents and the trouble are.

Sloped Lots and Downhill Crawl Spaces

On a hillside house, the low side usually has the crawl space vents, the access door and the spot where the sewer line leaves. Water runs that way too, so wood softens and screens rust faster. Rats and mice find those spots, so ask the provider to go over the downhill side carefully. Rodent exclusion covers how it gets sealed.

Trees, Ravines and Roof Rats

Big trees hang over plenty of roofs here, and wooded strips between streets give rats cover. Branches touching the roof are a way up for roof rats. Keep them trimmed back and keep ivy off the siding. See roof rats and attic rats.
